The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change. Online Platforms Response Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted due to the recalibration. The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms. The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction. Sizing System Modifications Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Member Experiences One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated. Necessary Adjustments Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products". "For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained. Marketplace Information The platform boasts over 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK. It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
